“GOOD TIMES”

In May 2024, my friend Carter Shimp sent me a song called Good Times & instantly I knew we had to do something for the release of it. We sat down and started brainstorming concepts together, ultimately landing on one that we thought fit best. Carter and I have been working together since I started creating art, so this entire process was one that was incredibly fun and natural. We shot an entire music video with no crew, did a fully built out photoshoot, created graphics, and developed a strategy for the release of this song - which would ultimately be the first song Carter would release on streaming platforms.

CONCEPT & APPROACH

Our concept & approach to the music video was clever but simple: we wanted to capture the duality of the good times and the bad. We wanted to show the two polar opposites in the video, but ultimately show Carter having a good time in the end.

PRIORITIES & CHALLENGES

One of the challenges was figuring out the storyline while also allowing the performance scenes to have some breathing room throughout the video as well. It took a few revisions of the story to land where we did, but ultimately it turned out flawless.

SOLUTION

We ended up creating a cohesive video, photoshoot, and promotional material that matched the aesthetic and energy of the song in a way that we were hoping to. We developed a strategy for the released and meticulously planned exactly when and what we would be posting leading up to the release and after the song / video were public.

RESULT

As a result of all the planning and work we did, the song got great reactions and reviews from those who tuned in. We were able to get about 1,000 views on the music video on Youtube, as well as about 17,000 streams on Spotify alone. For the first time Carter was releasing a single, it was very strong.

Being able to work with one of my friends who I’ve created art with for years to mash our ideas & skills together is a joy that can’t ultimately be put into words. Carter’s music & acting abilities along with my photo, video, & design capabilities, we were unstoppable on this project.
